Ventilation is the exchange of air with harmful pollutants and moisture from the inside of the building with fresh and clean air. Good ventilation improves indoor air quality and creates healthy homes. To set effective standards, the 2019 revision of the Part F (Ventilation) of the Building Regulations requires that ventilation systems be validated by an independent third party for flow rates after commissioning, broadly following the guidance in IS EN 14134:2019. To ensure compliance with this requirement, NSAI has established a registration scheme that certifies an individual as a competent independent third party to validate that a ventilation system has been installed, balanced and commissioned to meet the minimum requirements of Technical Guidance Document (TGD) F - Ventilation (2019) to the Irish Building Regulations.
