The Navitus team draws on an extensive and unique combination of skills and experience to offer clients effective, independent advice on energy management and saving strategies.


Fred Tottenham

Fred Tottenham, a Chartered Engineer, holds a mechanical engineering degree and an MSc from Trinity College Dublin. His main area of expertise is in renewable heating systems and in particular biomass installations. 

He is a registered Building Energy Rating (BER) assessor for Domestic and Commercial buildings and to produce Display Energy Certificates (DEC).

Ollie Walsh

Ollie Walsh holds a degree in Agricultural Science and Food Engineering (UCD) and a Diploma in Project Management (Trinity College Dublin). He has spent several years working as a project manager in the building industry, where he specialised in energy advice for a large range of commercial buildings including Radisson Blu Hotel Dublin, Heuston South Quarter, Blackrock Hospice and Gonzaga College. Other relevant competencies include:

• SEI BER assessor for New & Existing Dwellings and air tightness assessor

• SEI Technical Assessor – IS393 and ISO EN 16001 Energy Management Systems

Carina Mount Charles

Carina Mount Charles has an MSc in Environmental Technology (Imperial College, London) specialising in Energy Policy and an MA in International Finance (University of Westminster). Carina has extensive consulting experience in energy auditing and management projects in Ireland and the UK with a strong emphasis on investment analysis and long term sustainability plans. Other relevant competencies include:

• Energy Institute Certificate in Energy Management (University of Newport)

• SEI Technical Assessor – IS393 and ISO EN 16001 Energy Management Systems

• SEI BER assessor for New & Existing Dwellings

John Scannell

John Scannell, a mechanical engineering graduate from Trinity College Dublin, worked as a design engineer with RPS before moving into the construction industry where he specialised in energy efficient design of green buildings. He is a commercial BER assessor.

Nick Ashe

After graduating with a first class honours in Civil Engineer from Trinity in 2001, Nick Ashe started work with JB Barry, Consultant Engineers, on the design and installation of sewage treatment plants. He later moved to Clearpower Ltd, where he managed their environmental waste division. This involved the sustainable disposal of organic waste on agricultural land. With 10 years experience in the solid waste industry, Nick leads the Anaerobic Digestion section of Navitus.

Alex Mount Charles

Alex Mount Charles has a BA Hons (Trinity College Dublin) and MBA in International Marketing and Finance (University of Cape Town). He previously worked as a consultant to the biofuels sector in South Africa and as Business Development Manager with Imperative Energy in Ireland.
